The Parent Academy has established a partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), to increase parental awareness and reduce underage drinking. Research indicates that alcohol is the drug most commonly used by youth and that parents are the primary influence on their kids’ decisions about whether or not to drink alcohol.
PowerTalk 21 Day, April 21, 2016, is the annual day for parents to talk with their kids about underage drinking. MADD’s Power of Parents research-based program equips parents with resources to have effective conversations about alcohol with their kids and teens. The Power of Parents Pocket Guide is full of valuable information from the experts on underage drinking prevention. Both can be downloaded for free at www.madd.org/powerofparents.
